Job Overview
Wilderness Safaris Zambia is seeking an Eco-Tourism Development Officer to design and implement innovative tourism projects in Kasama. This role will bridge conservation goals with community engagement, ensuring tourism practices align with Zambia’s environmental and cultural priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop eco-tourism strategies that integrate wildlife conservation and community benefits
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to design sustainable tourism infrastructure
- Monitor and report on the environmental impact of tourism activities
- Create educational programs for tourists and local communities about conservation practices
- Coordinate with government agencies to ensure compliance with tourism and environmental regulations
Required Skills
- Expertise in sustainable tourism planning and project management
- Strong understanding of Zambian environmental policies and conservation frameworks
- Proven ability to build partnerships with local communities and NGOs
- Proficiency in environmental impact assessment methodologies
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management, Environmental Science, or related field
- Advanced degree in Sustainable Development or Conservation preferred
Experience
- 3-5 years in tourism development, environmental conservation, or community engagement roles
- Experience in Zambian tourism sector or similar African contexts
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
