Job Overview

The Mine Safety and Health Officer will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety policies, procedures, and training programs at the Chipata mining site. Reporting directly to the Site Safety Manager, the officer will collaborate with operations, engineering, and human resources to ensure compliance with Zambian mining regulations, international best practices, and Anglo American’s internal safety standards. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits to ensure compliance with Zambian Mine Safety Act and ISO 45001 standards.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
• Deliver comprehensive safety training programs, toolbox talks, and competency assessments for all employees and contractors.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate safety considerations into project design and operational processes.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and metrics for senior management review.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external safety consultants.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement through safety campaigns, incentives, and employee engagement initiatives.
