Job Overview
The Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) will spearhead Google Zambia’s innovation strategy, aligning emerging technologies with local market needs. Reporting directly to the Country Managing Director, the CIO will cultivate a culture of experimentation, oversee the development of new products and services, and partner with external stakeholders to accelerate digital adoption. This role is central to driving Google’s vision of a connected Zambia, leveraging AI, cloud computing, and data analytics to solve real‑world challenges in sectors such as agriculture, health, finance, and education. Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a three‑year innovation roadmap that aligns with Google’s global priorities and Zambia’s socio‑economic goals.
- Lead cross‑functional teams of product managers, engineers, data scientists, and designers to prototype, test, and launch innovative solutions.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI, machine learning, IoT, and blockchain, for potential application in the Zambian context.
- Build strategic partnerships with startups, universities, government ministries, and NGOs to co‑create solutions that address local challenges.
- Establish an internal innovation lab, providing resources, mentorship, and funding for high‑impact projects.
- Develop metrics and dashboards to measure the impact of innovation initiatives on user adoption, revenue growth, and social outcomes.
- Advise senior leadership on technology trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory considerations.
- Represent Google Zambia at industry events, publishing thought‑leadership articles and speaking on panels.

Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per month, commensurate with experience and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, equity participation, and comprehensive benefits.
