Job Overview

The Chief Quality Assurance Officer (CQAO) will lead the Quality Assurance (QA) function for the Mongu manufacturing plant, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with WHO, FDA, and local Zambian regulatory requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are effectively implemented.
  • Oversee validation activities for equipment, processes, and analytical methods, guaranteeing consistent product quality.
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to embed quality by design principles throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Manage a team of QA managers, auditors, and specialists, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
  • Prepare and present quality performance metrics to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and maintain up‑to‑date licensing documentation.
  • Drive root‑cause investigations for deviations, non‑conformances, and product complaints, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Implement risk‑based approaches to prioritize quality initiatives and resource allocation.
  • Champion sustainability and ethical practices within the QA function, aligning with corporate social responsibility goals.

  • Deep knowledge of GMP, GLP, GCP, and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Proven leadership experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Education

Experience

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in quality assurance within pharmaceutical manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing a QMS and regulatory compliance.
