Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy precision agriculture systems using GPS, IoT sensors, and data analytics
- Conduct soil and crop health assessments using drone-based imaging technology
- Train farmers on the use of John Deere’s FarmSight platform for real-time field monitoring
- Collaborate with local agricultural cooperatives to develop customized irrigation solutions
- Analyze climate data to recommend optimal planting and harvesting schedules
Required Skills
- Proficiency in agricultural data analysis software (e.g., ArcGIS, AgLeader)
- Experience with precision farming equipment calibration and maintenance
- Strong understanding of Zambian agro-ecological zones and farming practices
- Excellent communication skills for farmer training programs
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in remote field environments
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or Environmental Science. Advanced certification in Precision Agriculture Technology is preferred.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in agricultural technology implementation, with a focus on sub-Saharan African contexts. Prior work with irrigation systems or soil moisture monitoring tools is advantageous.
Salary
1,200,000 SSP – 1,800,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and technical expertise.
