Job Overview

As an AgriTech Innovation Specialist, you will spearhead the development and implementation of technology-driven solutions for smallholder and commercial farmers in Zambia. This role bridges the gap between agricultural science and digital innovation, leveraging tools like IoT, AI, and precision farming to optimize crop yields and resource efficiency. The position is based in Solwezi, a key agricultural hub in northern Zambia, and offers opportunities to collaborate with local cooperatives, research institutions, and international partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and pilot AgriTech solutions such as soil sensors, drone-based crop monitoring, and mobile apps for farm management.
  • Conduct field trials to assess the impact of new technologies on productivity and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with farmers to identify challenges and co-create tailored technological interventions.
  • Provide training and technical support to ensure adoption of AgriTech tools across diverse farming communities.
  • Partner with universities and NGOs to advance research in agricultural innovation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in agricultural technology, software development, or data analytics.
  • Strong understanding of Zambian agricultural practices and rural development challenges.
  • li>Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R) or IoT platform integration.

  • Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate findings into actionable strategies.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Computer Science, or a related discipline. A Master’s Degree is a plus.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in agricultural technology, rural development, or agribusiness innovation. Prior project management experience in Zambia or neighboring regions is preferred.

Salary

25,000 – 35,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
