Job Overview
The Chief Data Privacy Officer (CDPO) will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the bank’s data privacy strategy across all business units. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, the CDPO will ensure compliance with local and international data protection regulations, including the Zambia Data Protection Act and GDPR where applicable. This senior role is pivotal in safeguarding customer trust, mitigating privacy risks, and embedding a privacy‑by‑design mindset throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive data privacy framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

- Oversee the implementation of privacy controls, monitoring mechanisms, and incident response procedures.

- Manage relationships with data protection authorities and external auditors.
- Develop and deliver privacy awareness training programs for all employees.
- Prepare and present privacy reports to the board and regulatory bodies.
- Stay abreast of emerging privacy trends, technologies, and legislative changes globally.
Required Skills
- Deep knowledge of data protection laws (Zambia Data Protection Act, GDPR, CCPA).
- Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven leadership experience in a senior compliance or privacy role.
- Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business solutions.
- Experience with privacy‑by‑design and privacy engineering principles.
- Familiarity with data governance tools and privacy management software.

Education
A Master’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or ISO 27701 Lead Implementer are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years of progressive experience in data privacy, information security, or regulatory compliance, with at least five years in a leadership capacity. Experience within the banking or financial services sector, particularly in an African context, is strongly preferred.
Salary
The remuneration package is competitive and reflects the seniority of the role, ranging from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per month, complemented by performance‑based bonuses, health benefits, and a pension scheme.
