Job Overview
The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will lead GSK Zambia’s compliance function, overseeing regulatory affairs, corporate governance, and ethical standards across all business units. Reporting directly to the Country Managing Director, the CCO will develop and implement comprehensive compliance programs, conduct risk assessments, and ensure alignment with local and international regulations, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and anti‑corruption laws. This role is pivotal in safeguarding GSK’s reputation, protecting patient safety, and supporting sustainable growth in the Zambian market. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, external regulators, and industry bodies to foster a culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program covering regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and internal audits to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead investigations into compliance breaches, ensuring timely resolution and reporting to senior management.
- Provide guidance and training to employees on compliance policies, GMP, GCP, and anti‑bribery standards.
- Monitor changes in Zambian pharmaceutical regulations and international standards, updating policies accordingly.
- Collaborate with the Legal, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams to integrate compliance into daily operations.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Represent GSK Zambia in meetings with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and external auditors.
- Report compliance metrics and trends to the Country Managing Director and Board of Directors.
Required Skills
- Deep knowledge of Zambian pharmaceutical regulations, GMP, GCP, and international compliance standards.
- Strong analytical and investigative abilities with a detail‑oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven leadership experience in building and managing compliance teams.

Education
A bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Pharmacy, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree in Compliance, Business Law, or an MBA is highly desirable. Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Certified Regulatory Affairs Professional (RAC) are advantageous.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of progressive experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or risk management within the pharmaceutical or life‑science industry. Prior experience leading compliance functions in a multinational environment is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and other statutory benefits.
