Job Overview

The Curriculum Development Specialist will lead the design, review, and implementation of curricula across various faculties, ensuring alignment with international standards, industry needs, and national qualification frameworks. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive needs analyses to identify gaps and opportunities in existing programmes.
• Design and develop curriculum frameworks, course outlines, learning outcomes, and assessment strategies.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate experiential learning, digital resources, and competency‑based education.
• Ensure curricula comply with the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) standards and international accreditation requirements.
• Lead curriculum review cycles, incorporating feedback from students, alumni, and industry partners.
• Provide training and mentorship to academic staff on curriculum development best practices.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented curricula through data‑driven metrics.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation for internal governance and external accreditation bodies.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and research abilities to assess educational trends and labour market demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting curriculum documents and presenting proposals.

Education

A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, Instructional Design, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in instructional technology or accreditation processes are highly regarded.

Experience

Minimum of five years of proven experience in curriculum development within higher education or comparable institutions. Experience with accreditation processes, programme review, and stakeholder engagement is essential.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 30,000 to SSP 45,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary reviews are conducted annually as part of UNZA’s Employment in Zambia policy.
