Key Job Responsibilities
The Emergency Response Team Supervisor will be responsible for:
- Supervising and coordinating ERT Team Leaders for efficient emergency operations
- Supporting the ERT Superintendent in fire prevention programs, fire risk assessments, and emergency preparedness
- Conducting fire inspections, rescue planning, and hazard identification
- Developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fire safety and rescue operations
- Investigating fire incidents and preparing reports to determine root causes
- Maintaining computerized and written records of inspections, emergency incidents, investigations, training, and compliance
- Preparing and presenting monthly emergency response reports
- Reviewing construction and operational plans to ensure fire safety compliance
- Conducting inspections of fire suppression systems and firefighting equipment
- Managing emergency response during major fire outbreaks, rescue incidents, disasters, hazardous material emergencies, and first responder medical situations
- Scheduling and conducting fire drills, rescue training, mine safety awareness sessions, and emergency preparedness programs
- Coordinating with departments to strengthen mine safety standards and risk reduction practices
- Ensuring workplace discipline, compliance, and professional conduct among ERT personnel
- Acting as the ERT Superintendent during periods of absence

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate with merit in English, Science, and Mathematics
- Diploma in a related field is required
- A Degree in Fire Science or Emergency Management will be considered an added advantage
Professional Certifications
Applicants should preferably possess the following certifications:
- Fire Service Statutory Examinations
- Leading Fire-Fighter / Station Fire Officer qualifications
- FF1, FF2, or IFE certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
- Fire Prevention Certification
- Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Certification
- Vehicle Extrication Certificate
- Hazmat Training for First Responders
- Confined Space Rescue Certification
- First Aid for Mining Certificate
- Rope Rescue Technician / High Angle Rescue Certificate
- Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (Advantageous)
- Class C Driver’s License
