Job Overview

The Energy Storage Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, specification, and integration of battery storage solutions for utility‑scale and commercial projects across Zambia. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed engineering designs for lithium‑ion, flow, and hybrid energy storage systems.
  • Perform load flow, short‑circuit, and stability analyses using industry‑standard software (e.g., PSS®E, DIgSILENT).
  • Prepare technical specifications, procurement packages, and vendor evaluation reports.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Lead system testing, commissioning, and performance verification activities on site.
  • Provide technical support during operation, troubleshooting, and optimization phases.
  • Ensure compliance with Zambian electrical standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols.

  • Contribute to the development of cost‑benefit analyses and business cases for storage projects.
  • Stay updated on emerging storage technologies, market trends, and regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of battery chemistry, thermal management, and power electronics.
  • Proficiency in electrical design tools (AutoCAD, ETAP, PowerWorld).
  • Experience with grid integration studies and renewable energy interfacing.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication skills for client presentations and cross‑team coordination.
  • Project management experience, including scheduling and risk mitigation.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEM) are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience designing, installing, or commissioning large‑scale energy storage systems, preferably in utility or industrial settings.

Salary
