Job Overview
The Industrial Automation Engineer will design, program, and implement advanced automation systems for Siemens’ manufacturing clients in Zambia. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and program PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems for manufacturing automation projects.
- Conduct system design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance checks in line with industry standards.
- Lead on‑site installation, commissioning, and validation of automation equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing timely support to clients and internal teams.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and process engineers to optimize system performance.
- Prepare detailed documentation, including functional specifications, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.
- Stay updated on emerging automation technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance productivity.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens S7, Allen‑Bradley, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of SCADA platforms such as WinCC, Ignition or Wonderware.
- Experience with HMI development and industrial networking (PROFINET, Ethernet/IP).
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Siemens Certified Programmer (S7) or equivalent are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to technical excellence.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing industrial automation solutions in manufacturing or process industries. Prior experience in the Zambian market or similar emerging economies is advantageous, as it provides insight into local regulatory requirements and operational challenges.
Salary
