Job Overview

The Port Operations Supervisor will oversee daily terminal activities at the Nchelenge facility, ensuring smooth cargo handling, vessel coordination, and compliance with international maritime standards. Reporting to the Port Operations Manager, the supervisor will lead a team of stevedores, equipment operators, and administrative staff, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all cargo handling operations, including loading, unloading, and storage.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, customs procedures, and environmental standards.
  • Manage vessel berthing schedules, liaise with ship agents, and optimize turnaround times.
  • Monitor equipment performance, schedule maintenance, and coordinate with the technical team.
  • Lead, train, and evaluate a diverse workforce, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
  • Prepare daily operational reports, KPIs, and incident logs for senior management.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
  • Collaborate with security, customs, and immigration authorities to facilitate smooth cargo clearance.

Minimum of five years’ experience in port, terminal, or maritime logistics operations, with at least two years in a supervisory or team‑lead role. Experience with lake‑based cargo handling is a plus.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 30,000 to 45,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be applicable.
