Job Overview
The Risk Management Analyst will play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and operational risks across the Chipata branch’s portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, you will collaborate with credit, compliance, and business units to develop risk models, conduct stress testing, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards set by the Bank of Zambia and international best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for loan portfolios, trade finance, and treasury operations.
- Develop and maintain quantitative risk models, including credit scoring and market risk analytics.
- Perform regular stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate potential impacts on the branch’s financial health.
- Monitor compliance with local regulatory requirements and internal risk policies.
- Prepare detailed risk reports and present findings to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Collaborate with the Credit Department to review loan applications and recommend risk‑adjusted pricing.
- Assist in the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and corrective action plans.
- Stay updated on emerging risks, industry trends, and regulatory changes affecting the banking sector.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
- In‑depth knowledge of credit risk, market risk, and operational risk frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex risk concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of Zambian banking regulations and Basel III standards.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of experience in risk analysis, credit assessment, or related roles within the banking or financial services industry. Prior exposure to risk management tools and regulatory reporting in a Zambian context is preferred.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with performance‑based bonuses.
