Job Overview

The Senior Structural Engineer will lead the structural design and analysis of complex construction projects in the Southern Province, primarily based in Monze. Reporting to the Project Director, the role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with local and international codes, and delivering safe, cost‑effective solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead structural design and analysis for residential, commercial, and industrial projects using advanced software such as SAP2000, ETABS, and Revit.
• Develop detailed construction drawings, specifications, and calculation reports that meet Zambian building codes and international standards.
• Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and contractors to integrate structural solutions seamlessly into overall project plans.
• Perform site inspections and supervise construction activities to verify compliance with design intent and quality standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and risk assessments related to structural components.
• Prepare and present technical reports and progress updates to senior management and clients.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, Revit).
• Strong knowledge of Zambian building regulations, Eurocode, and ACI standards.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Leadership experience with the ability to guide and develop junior staff.
• Project management capabilities, including budgeting and scheduling.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is mandatory. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with at least three years in a senior or lead role on large‑scale construction projects. Experience in the African construction market, particularly in Zambia, is preferred.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
