Job Overview
First Quantum Minerals is hiring a Senior Financial Accountant – Mining Operations to manage accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance within its Kitwe operations. The role ensures accurate financial data, supports budgeting processes, and provides insights to drive operational efficiency and profitability.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, knowledge of mining cost accounting, and experience managing corporate financial reporting. This position works closely with finance managers, auditors, and operational teams to maintain transparency and financial control.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Maintain accurate general ledger and journal entries
Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet analysis
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes
Assist with budget preparation, cost analysis, and financial forecasting
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting, and IFRS standards
Conduct variance analysis and financial performance reporting
Support internal and external audit processes
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and operational expenditures
Implement and maintain internal financial controls
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of IFRS and corporate accounting standards
Experience with ERP accounting systems and financial reporting tools
Excellent financial analysis, reporting, and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance focus
Ability to interpret financial data to support management decisions
