Job Purpose
The Hydrogeological Technician will support daily hydrogeological field activities, groundwater monitoring, drill supervision, and hydrogeological data collection to ensure safe mine operations and efficient groundwater management.
The successful candidate will assist in protecting the open pit mine environment from groundwater risks while contributing to dewatering efficiency and water quality monitoring systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Hydrogeological Field Support
- Assist the Hydrogeologist with routine field inspections and groundwater monitoring.
- Support hydrogeological mapping and field investigations.
- Conduct pit inspections to identify groundwater-related risks.
2. Drilling & Borehole Supervision
- Supervise drilling activities and collect drill rig data.
- Assist with borehole construction in collaboration with drill contractors.
- Participate in grouting and borehole infrastructure installation.
3. Monitoring & Data Collection
- Collect flow monitoring and groundwater data.
- Perform hydraulic testing under the supervision of the Hydrogeologist.
- Maintain accurate hydrogeological records and database inputs.
4. Geophysical Survey Support
- Assist in geophysical survey traverse marking.
- Coordinate bush clearing and site preparation activities for surveys and drilling.
5. Groundwater Safety & Mine Dewatering
- Support safe groundwater management in the open pit mine.
- Contribute to efficient mine dewatering and water quality monitoring.
- Report and assist in investigating groundwater-related incidents.
6. Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with:
- Geology teams
- Mine planning departments
- Survey teams
- Mining operations personnel
- Support cross-functional mining activities as directed by the Hydrogeologist.
7. Logistics & Operational Support
- Coordinate drill-site preparation and pad construction.
- Assist in logistical planning for field activities.
- Provide operational support during day and occasional night shifts.

Educational Qualifications
