Job Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Civil Infrastructure Project Manager to lead complex construction and engineering projects in the Choma region. This role is critical for our expanding operations in Zambia, as we take on more significant roles in regional development. The successful candidate will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies and design coordination to site execution and final handover. You will act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and government stakeholders, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage large-scale civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architects, structural engineers, and environmental specialists.
- Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and procurement schedules to ensure financial viability.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety regulations.
- Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies to secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Mitigate project risks through proactive planning and contingency management.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and progress updates for senior management and clients.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Deep understanding of international construction standards and local Zambian building codes.
- Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong negotiation skills for managing subcontractor contracts and vendor relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Analytical problem-solving skills to address complex on-site engineering challenges.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline is mandatory. Professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 is highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must demonstrate a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in civil infrastructure project management. Proven experience in managing large-scale public or private sector construction projects is essential. Experience working in the Southern African development context is a significant plus. We are looking for individuals who have successfully navigated complex regulatory environments and managed diverse, multi-disciplinary teams in high-pressure settings.
