Job Overview
The Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) will lead Lafarge Zambia’s procurement function, shaping sourcing strategies that drive cost efficiency, quality, and sustainability across all construction projects and operational activities. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the CPO will oversee a team of procurement specialists, negotiate high‑value contracts, and ensure compliance with corporate governance and local regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with Lafarge’s business goals and sustainability targets.
- Lead negotiations for high‑value contracts with suppliers of cement, aggregates, raw materials, and services.
- Manage supplier performance, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering, finance, and operations teams to forecast demand and optimize inventory levels.
- Ensure compliance with local procurement laws, corporate policies, and ethical standards.
- Drive cost‑saving initiatives and value‑creation projects across the supply chain.
- Mentor and develop the procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Education
The successful candidate must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CPM, CPSM, or CIPS are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of ten years of progressive procurement experience, with at least five years in a senior leadership role within the construction or heavy‑industry sector. Demonstrated success in managing large‑scale contracts and leading cross‑functional teams is essential.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with performance‑based bonuses.
