Job Overview
The Community Relations Manager will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of community engagement programs that support KCM’s social license to operate. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, the manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders, local authorities, NGOs, and community leaders to address social concerns, promote sustainable development, and enhance the company’s reputation. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive community engagement strategies aligned with KCM’s CSR objectives.
- Facilitate regular dialogue with community representatives, local government, and NGOs to identify needs and resolve issues.
- Oversee community development projects, including education, health, and livelihood initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and impact measurement.
- Prepare and present quarterly reports on community activities, outcomes, and stakeholder feedback to senior management.
- Manage the community relations budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Coordinate crisis communication and grievance handling mechanisms to maintain trust and transparency.
- Collaborate with the environmental and health & safety teams to integrate community concerns into operational planning.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English and at least one local language (e.g., Bemba, Lozi).
- Strong project management abilities, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, conflict resolution, and community development.
- Analytical mindset with the capacity to interpret social data and translate insights into actionable plans.
- Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional teams.
- Familiarity with Zambian mining regulations and CSR best practices.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Development Studies, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications in CSR or Project Management is considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of five years’ experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or CSR within the mining or heavy‑industry sector. Experience working in remote or rural settings in Zambia is highly valued.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based incentives and allowances may be applicable.
