Job Overview

This role focuses on creating compelling digital narratives through video, audio, and written content. The specialist will collaborate with local journalists, community leaders, and technology partners to produce media that informs, educates, and inspires. The position is ideal for a creative professional passionate about using digital tools to amplify underrepresented voices in Zambia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop multimedia content (video, audio, and written) for digital platforms
  • Collaborate with local journalists and community stakeholders to identify story ideas
  • Produce and edit digital content using industry-standard software
  • Conduct audience research to tailor content to Zambian communities
  • Participate in cross-departmental projects to enhance BBC Media Action’s digital presence

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in video and audio editing software (Adobe Premiere, Audition, etc.)
  • Strong storytelling and scriptwriting abilities
  • Experience with social media content creation and analytics
  • Knowledge of Zambian cultural and social issues
  • Fluency in English and Bemba/Nsenga preferred

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Media Studies, Journalism, Communications, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in digital media production are advantageous.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in digital media production, preferably in a developing country context. Demonstrated experience in community-based storytelling projects is a plus.

Salary

200,000 – 300,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
