Job Overview

The Downstream Operations Manager will lead the planning, execution, and optimization of all downstream activities at Chevron’s Ndola refinery and associated distribution network. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily refinery operations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to maximize throughput, minimize downtime, and improve product yield.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
• Coordinate with supply chain and logistics to manage feedstock procurement, product distribution, and inventory control.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare detailed operational reports for senior management.
• Drive cost‑reduction initiatives and identify opportunities for process optimization and technology upgrades.
• Ensure all regulatory requirements are met, maintaining strong relationships with Zambian authorities and industry bodies.
• Implement and supervise emergency response plans, conducting regular drills and safety audits.
• Collaborate with the commercial team to align production schedules with market demand and contractual obligations.
• Mentor junior staff and support talent development programs within the operations department.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma, or Certified Process Engineer are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must possess a minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in downstream oil & gas operations, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience in refinery management, process optimization, and large‑scale project execution within the African context is strongly preferred.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and other statutory benefits in line with Zambian labor regulations.
