Job Overview
The Head of Precision Agriculture Solutions will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of data‑centric farming services across the Copperbelt and surrounding regions. Reporting to the Regional Director of Agronomy, the incumbent will oversee a multidisciplinary team of agronomists, data scientists, software engineers, and field technicians. The role involves translating farmer needs into actionable technology solutions, integrating satellite‑derived insights, drone‑based scouting, and variable‑rate application tools. By collaborating with Syngenta’s global R&D centers, the Head will ensure that local practices benefit from the latest scientific breakthroughs. This position is pivotal for driving revenue growth, enhancing farmer profitability, and reinforcing Syngenta’s reputation as a technology leader in Zambia’s agricultural sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive precision agriculture strategy aligned with corporate goals and local market dynamics.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions, including data collection, analytics, recommendation engines, and field implementation.
- Partner with local cooperatives, extension services, and government bodies to promote adoption of digital farming tools.
- Oversee pilot projects, evaluate performance metrics, and scale successful models across the region.
- Manage budgets, forecast revenue, and report on key performance indicators to senior leadership.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies such as AI‑driven pest forecasting, soil health sensors, and autonomous equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Zambian agricultural regulations and data privacy standards.
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of agronomy, crop physiology, and farm management practices.
- Proficiency in GIS, remote sensing, and data analytics platforms (e.g., QGIS, Python, R).
- Experience with drone operations, UAV data processing, and variable‑rate technology.

Education
