Job Overview

Caterpillar Zambia is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Maintenance Engineer to join its Solwezi operations. This role is critical to ensuring the optimal performance of industrial machinery used in mining and construction projects. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with a proactive approach to equipment reliability and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, and haul trucks).
• Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic system failures using diagnostic tools and software.
• Implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations during all operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize equipment performance and longevity.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical diagnostics.
• Experience with Caterpillar equipment (Caterpillar Certified Technician preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Education

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
• Certifications in equipment maintenance (e.g., CAT Certification) are advantageous.

Experience

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in industrial equipment maintenance, preferably in mining or construction sectors.
• Proven track record in managing equipment reliability and safety standards.

Salary

250,000 – 400,000 ZMW per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
