Job Overview
The Regional Credit Risk Analyst will be responsible for assessing credit risk across the Kansanshi region, ensuring that lending activities align with the bank’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements. This role involves conducting detailed credit analyses, monitoring portfolio performance, and providing actionable insights to senior management. The analyst will collaborate closely with relationship managers, underwriting teams, and the central risk office to develop risk mitigation strategies, support loan approvals, and enhance the overall credit quality of the bank’s portfolio. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive credit assessments for corporate, SME, and retail loan applications within the Kansanshi region.
- Analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, and market conditions to determine borrower creditworthiness.
- Monitor existing loan portfolios, identify early warning signals, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed credit risk reports and present findings to senior management and the Credit Committee.
- Collaborate with relationship managers to structure loan terms that balance client needs with risk considerations.
- Ensure compliance with Basel III, local regulatory standards, and Abba Bank’s internal risk policies.
- Develop and maintain credit risk models, scoring systems, and analytical tools.
- Participate in regional risk workshops, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in financial modeling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder presentations.
- Deep understanding of credit risk principles, banking regulations, and risk mitigation techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel; experience with risk management software (e.g., Moody’s Analytics, SAS) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CPA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in credit risk analysis, preferably within a commercial banking environment. Experience in the Zambian market, familiarity with local industries, and a track record of successful portfolio management will be valued highly.
Salary
