Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Finance Analyst will support the structuring, evaluation, and execution of financing packages for renewable energy projects across Zambia. Working within the Finance & Investment department, you will conduct financial modeling, risk assessment, and due diligence to ensure that projects meet AfDB’s rigorous standards for financial viability and environmental sustainability. You will collaborate with project developers, government officials, and international investors to design innovative financing mechanisms, such as green bonds, concessional loans, and blended finance structures. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models for renewable energy projects, including cash flow projections, sensitivity analyses, and scenario testing.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments covering market, credit, operational, and environmental risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Prepare investment memoranda, term sheets, and presentation materials for senior management and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate due diligence activities, liaising with legal, technical, and environmental experts to gather necessary documentation.
- Assist in structuring innovative financing solutions, such as green bonds, blended finance, and public‑private partnership arrangements.
- Monitor the performance of funded projects, track key financial indicators, and prepare periodic reporting for the bank’s governance bodies.
- Stay abreast of policy developments, market trends, and regulatory changes affecting renewable energy financing in Zambia and the Southern African region.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling using Excel or specialized software.
- Strong analytical abilities with a solid understanding of renewable energy technologies and market dynamics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of international financing standards, ESG criteria, and green finance instruments.

Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certification (CFA, CPA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of relevant experience in project finance, investment banking, or renewable energy financing. Experience working with multilateral development institutions or in emerging markets is an advantage.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 30,000 to SSP 45,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and other incentives may be applicable.
