Job Overview

The Renewable Energy Project Finance Analyst will play a pivotal role in structuring, evaluating, and managing the financial aspects of Shell’s renewable energy projects across Zambia. This position involves detailed financial modeling, risk assessment, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are financially viable and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. The analyst will support the development of financing strategies, including equity, debt, and grant funding, while ensuring compliance with local regulations and international best practices. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed financial models for solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, cash‑flow analysis, and sensitivity testing to assess project viability.
• Prepare investment memoranda, pitch decks, and financial reports for senior management and external investors.
• Collaborate with engineering, legal, and regulatory teams to secure project approvals and financing agreements.
• Monitor project financial performance, track key metrics, and provide variance analysis against budgets.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks, including currency, interest rate, and commodity price exposures.
• Support negotiations with banks, development finance institutions, and private equity partners.
• Ensure compliance with Zambian tax laws, accounting standards, and Shell’s internal financial policies.
• Contribute to the development of the renewable energy pipeline by evaluating new investment opportunities.
• Prepare regular updates for internal stakeholders and external partners, highlighting project milestones and financial health.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel; experience with VBA or Python is a plus.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of translating complex financial concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and market dynamics in Africa.
• Familiarity with project finance structures, debt syndication, and equity financing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in financial software such as Bloomberg, SAP, or Oracle Financials.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or professional certification (CFA, CPA) is highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project finance, investment banking, or financial advisory, preferably within the renewable energy sector or infrastructure projects in emerging markets.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 30,000 to 45,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with performance‑based bonuses.
