Job Overview

The Renewable Energy Project Controls Engineer will be responsible for establishing, monitoring, and optimizing the cost, schedule, and performance metrics of Schneider Electric’s renewable energy projects in Zambia. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, finance teams, and external stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, integrating all engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts, and track actual expenditures against baseline budgets.
• Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques to assess project performance and forecast future trends.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, providing actionable recommendations to senior management.
• Generate regular progress reports, dashboards, and KPI analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of critical equipment and materials.
• Support contract administration, change order management, and claim preparation.
• Facilitate cross‑functional meetings, workshops, and stakeholder reviews to align project objectives.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and Schneider Electric’s corporate policies.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing project data and implementing best practices.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in project scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and cost control tools.
• Strong analytical abilities with experience in Earned Value Management and risk analysis.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex data to diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, especially solar PV and wind farm development.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Attention to detail, high level of accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
• Familiarity with Zambian energy regulations and international standards (IEC, ISO 50001).

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI‑ACP, or a recognized Project Controls qualification are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or schedule management within the renewable energy sector or large‑scale infrastructure projects. Experience working on solar or wind projects in Africa is a distinct advantage.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 120,000 to SSP 180,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
