Job Overview
The Retail Marketing Analyst will play a pivotal role in shaping Shoprite Zambia’s marketing strategy for the Chipata region. Reporting to the Regional Marketing Manager, you will analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and sales data to develop actionable insights that boost brand visibility and increase footfall. This role combines analytical rigor with creative thinking, ensuring that promotional campaigns are both data‑backed and resonant with local audiences. You will collaborate closely with merchandising, store operations, and digital teams to execute integrated marketing programs that align with corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify consumer preferences, competitive activities, and emerging retail trends in Chipata and surrounding districts.
- Analyze point‑of‑sale (POS) data, loyalty program metrics, and digital engagement statistics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
- Develop and present weekly and monthly performance dashboards that highlight key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales lift, basket size, and promotional ROI.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to design price promotions, in‑store displays, and product placements that maximize profitability.
- Work with the digital marketing team to optimize social media content, email newsletters, and mobile app notifications based on data insights.
- Support the planning and execution of local events, community outreach programs, and sponsorships that reinforce Shoprite’s brand presence.
- Maintain a repository of market intelligence reports and ensure that insights are shared across regional and national marketing teams.
- Provide recommendations for inventory adjustments and supply chain coordination based on forecasted demand patterns.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or Tableau for data visualization and analysis.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data sets into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of retail marketing principles, consumer psychology, and promotional strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively across cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving attitude.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in data analytics or digital marketing are highly regarded.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in retail marketing analytics, consumer insights, or a similar role within the FMCG or retail sector. Experience working with POS systems and loyalty program data is essential.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
