Job Overview
This critical role involves evaluating environmental impacts of proposed projects in Zambia’s western region. The position requires field research, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement to ensure compliance with national environmental regulations while promoting sustainable practices. The successful candidate will contribute to GreenTech’s mission of advancing ecological stewardship in Zambia’s unique ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to assess ecological impacts of infrastructure and agricultural projects
- Prepare detailed environmental impact assessment (EIA) reports for government submissions
- Collaborate with local communities to develop conservation strategies
- Monitor wildlife habitats and water quality in the Barotse Floodplain region
- Provide expert recommendations for mitigating environmental risks
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on sustainability initiatives
Required Skills
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and environmental data analysis software
- Strong understanding of Zambian environmental regulations and EIA protocols
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Bilingual in English and Lozi preferred
- Ability to work in remote field locations
- Experience with wetland ecosystem management
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field
- Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Management advantageous
Experience
- 3-5 years in environmental impact assessment or conservation roles
- Fieldwork experience in Southern African ecosystems
Salary
150,000 – 250,000 SSP annually, commensurate with experience
