Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team in Mpika, Zambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing conservation projects and programs in the field, as well as providing technical support to local communities and government agencies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental conservation, with experience in project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The position is based in Mpika, Zambia, and requires frequent travel to project sites and meetings with stakeholders. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality work standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement conservation projects and programs in the field, including habitat restoration, species monitoring, and community engagement.
  • Provide technical support to local communities and government agencies on conservation and sustainable livelihoods.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and other NGOs.
  • Conduct field research and monitoring to inform conservation decisions and project implementation.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and reports, as well as ensure compliance with WWF’s financial and reporting policies.

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in environmental conservation, with a focus on project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality work standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.

Experience

5-7 years of experience in environmental conservation, with a focus on project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination.

Salary

30,000 – 60,000 SSP per month.
