Job Overview

The Agricultural Technology Integration Manager will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of precision agriculture solutions for John Deere’s clients in the Chipata region. This includes integrating IoT sensors, data analytics platforms, and autonomous equipment into existing farm operations. The role collaborates closely with sales, engineering, and agronomy teams to deliver tailored technology roadmaps that enhance yield, reduce input costs, and promote sustainable practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute technology integration strategies for farms ranging from 50 to 5,000 hectares.
  • Conduct on‑site assessments to identify opportunities for precision farming, including soil mapping, variable rate application, and remote monitoring.
  • Configure and calibrate IoT devices, GPS guidance systems, and data management platforms to align with client objectives.
  • Lead cross‑functional project teams, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Provide training and technical support to farmers, agronomists, and dealership staff on new technologies.
  • Analyze performance data to generate actionable insights and continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Collaborate with John Deere’s global R&D to pilot emerging solutions in the Zambian market.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local agricultural cooperatives, government agencies, and research institutions.
  • Prepare detailed project documentation, reports, and case studies for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive offerings to maintain a leading edge.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in precision agriculture platforms (e.g., John Deere Operations Center, Climate FieldView).
  • Strong understanding of agronomy, crop science, and farm management practices.
  • Experience with IoT hardware installation, sensor networks, and data analytics tools.
  • Project management expertise, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications in precision farming, data science, or project management (e.g., PMP) are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience in agricultural technology integration, farm advisory services, or related roles. Demonstrated success in managing multi‑disciplinary projects and delivering measurable improvements in farm productivity.

Salary
