Job Overview

The Data Center Operations Manager will oversee the daily operation of Google’s Lusaka data center, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security for Google Cloud services. Responsibilities include managing power, cooling, networking, and security systems, driving efficiency, and leading a skilled team to meet operational targets while supporting Google’s sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise power, cooling, and networking infrastructure to maintain optimal uptime.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures.
• Lead capacity planning and forecasting for expanding cloud services.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, and local regulations.
• Manage incident response, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortem reporting.

Required Skills

• Deep understanding of data center hardware, UPS, HVAC, and networking.
• Proficiency with monitoring tools such as Google Cloud Operations Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities under pressure.
• Effective leadership and team‑building experience.
• Excellent communication for cross‑functional collaboration.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required. Certifications like Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, ITIL, or CDCP are a plus.

Experience

At least five (5) years managing data center or large‑scale IT infrastructure, with a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role. Experience with Google Cloud Platform is advantageous.

Salary

The competitive salary range is SSP 250,000 – 350,000 per month, based on experience and qualifications, with potential performance bonuses.
