Job Overview
The Digital Twin Engineer will design, develop, and maintain virtual replicas of Mondi’s manufacturing assets, including production lines, machinery, and process workflows. By integrating real‑time sensor data with advanced simulation models, the engineer will enable predictive maintenance, process optimisation, and scenario testing. Key Responsibilities
- Develop high‑fidelity digital twin models of production equipment and processes using CAD, simulation software, and IoT platforms.
- Integrate real‑time data streams from sensors, PLCs, and SCADA systems into digital twin environments.
- Perform predictive analytics to forecast equipment failures, optimise throughput, and reduce energy consumption.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to design condition‑based maintenance schedules based on digital twin insights.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by running virtual experiments and scenario analyses.
- Document model architectures, data flows, and validation results for internal and external audits.
- Provide training and technical support to plant operators and engineers on digital twin usage.
- Stay current with emerging technologies such as AI‑driven simulation, edge computing, and digital thread concepts.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in 3D modelling and simulation tools (e.g., Siemens NX, ANSYS, Dassault Systèmes).
- Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or Java for data integration and algorithm development.
- Experience with industrial IoT platforms, OPC-UA, MQTT, and data historians.
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques for predictive maintenance.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical mindset.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑departmental collaboration.
- Project management experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications in Digital Twin, Industrial Automation, or Data Science are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least two (2) years focused on digital twin development, simulation, or advanced analytics. Prior experience in the paper, packaging, or related heavy‑industry sectors is an advantage.
Salary
