Job Overview

The Food Safety Compliance Manager will lead Heineken Zambia’s food safety program, ensuring that all products meet local and international safety standards, including HACCP, GMP, and ISO 22000. This role is pivotal in safeguarding consumer health, protecting brand reputation, and maintaining compliance with Zambia’s Food and Drugs Act as well as EU export requirements. The manager will collaborate with production, quality assurance, R&D, and supply chain teams to embed a culture of safety, conduct risk assessments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This is a senior position offering a strategic platform to influence company policy, mentor cross‑functional teams, and contribute to Heineken’s global food safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s HACCP plan and ensure alignment with ISO 22000 standards.
  • Conduct regular internal audits, risk assessments, and gap analyses across all production lines.
  • Lead investigations of food safety incidents, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Monitor changes in local and international food safety regulations and update company policies accordingly.
  • Provide training and mentorship to production and QA staff on food safety best practices.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure raw material compliance and conduct supplier audits.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive food safety reports to senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing food safety risks and enhancing product quality.

Required Skills

  • In‑depth knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, and local food safety legislation.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or brewing environment.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence without direct authority.
  • Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Nutrition, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified HACCP Practitioner, ISO 22000 Lead Auditor, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Experience

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience in food safety management within the food & beverage manufacturing sector, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in a brewery or beverage environment is a distinct advantage.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 120,000 to SSP 180,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with performance‑based bonuses.
