- Develop and update slope stability models, pit design parameters, and ground support recommendations.
- Collaborate with mining planners, civil engineers, and safety officers to integrate geotechnical findings into mine planning and operational schedules.
- Monitor and evaluate ground movement, deformation, and stress changes through instrumentation data and field observations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, risk assessments, and compliance documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Provide on‑site technical support during critical excavation phases and emergency response situations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including the adoption of new geotechnical technologies and best practices.
Required Skills

- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams in challenging field environments.
- Knowledge of Zambian mining regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental guidelines.

Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in geotechnical engineering within the mining sector, preferably in copper or other base metal operations. Experience with large‑scale underground projects, slope stability analysis, and ground support design is essential.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from SSP 250,000 to SSP 400,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and other statutory benefits.
