Job Overview

The Head of Cybersecurity Operations will lead Cisco’s security operations center (SOC) in Zambia, overseeing threat detection, incident response, and security architecture initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive SOC processes, including monitoring, detection, and response workflows.
  • Lead a team of security analysts, providing coaching, performance reviews, and professional development plans.
  • Coordinate incident response activities, ensuring timely containment, eradication, and post‑incident analysis.
  • Collaborate with Cisco’s global security teams to align local practices with international standards and threat intelligence.
  • Design and enforce security policies, standards, and controls across Cisco’s Zambian operations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and remediate gaps.
  • Present security metrics, reports, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Drive security awareness and training programs for internal staff and client organizations.

Required Skills

  • Deep expertise in SOC operations, SIEM platforms (e.g., Cisco SecureX, Splunk), and incident response frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of network security, cloud security (AWS, Azure), and endpoint protection.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing multidisciplinary security teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills for translating technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or Cisco Certified CyberOps Professional.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience
