Job Overview
The Mining Safety Trainer will design, deliver, and evaluate comprehensive safety training programs for all operational personnel at Glencore’s Kitwe mining sites. The role involves collaborating with engineering, operations, and human resources teams to ensure that safety standards meet both corporate policies and regulatory requirements. The trainer will also act as a subject‑matter expert, providing guidance on hazard identification, risk mitigation, and emergency response procedures. This position plays a critical part in fostering a safety‑first mindset across the workforce, thereby reducing incidents and enhancing overall productivity. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update training curricula covering mine safety, occupational health, and regulatory compliance.

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Zambian Mine Health and Safety Act and international mining safety standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
- Excellent presentation and facilitation abilities, with the capacity to engage diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in developing e‑learning content and using learning management systems.
- Analytical mindset for interpreting safety data and translating findings into training improvements.
- Effective communication skills in English; proficiency in local languages is an advantage.
- Ability to travel between multiple sites within the Kitwe area.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in safety training.
Experience
Candidates must have at least five years of hands‑on experience delivering safety training in a mining or heavy‑industry environment. Prior experience with adult learning principles, curriculum development, and competency assessments is essential. Experience working in Zambia or other African mining jurisdictions is a strong plus.
Salary
