Job Overview
The Mobile Payments Product Manager will lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle of Ecobank’s mobile payment solutions, from ideation and market research to design, development, launch, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Head of Digital Banking, the successful candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including engineering, compliance, marketing, and customer support—to deliver secure, user‑friendly, and scalable mobile payment products that drive adoption and revenue. This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing Ecobank’s digital ecosystem, aligning product strategy with regulatory requirements, and ensuring that the bank remains competitive in the fast‑moving FinTech environment. Key Responsibilities
- Define product vision, roadmap, and strategy for mobile payments, aligning with Ecobank’s overall digital banking objectives.
- Conduct market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and customer research to identify gaps and opportunities in the Zambian mobile payments market.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to translate requirements into functional specifications and user stories.
- Ensure product compliance with the Bank of Zambia regulations, AML/KYC standards, and data protection laws.
- Lead product launch activities, including go‑to‑market planning, promotional campaigns, and stakeholder training.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as transaction volume, user acquisition, churn rate, and revenue, and iterate on the product based on data‑driven insights.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including mobile network operators, fintech startups, and payment gateways.
- Prepare regular reports for senior leadership, highlighting product performance, risk assessments, and growth opportunities.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of mobile payment ecosystems, digital wallets, and fintech trends in Africa.
- Proven product management experience with a track record of launching successful digital financial products.
- Excellent analytical skills, comfortable working with data analytics tools and interpreting complex datasets.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities, capable of influencing cross‑functional teams.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing financial services in Zambia.
- Agile methodology experience and proficiency with product management tools such as JIRA or Trello.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner, PMP) are considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of five years of product management experience, preferably within the financial services or FinTech sector. Demonstrated experience in mobile payments, digital banking, or e‑commerce platforms is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 300,000 to SSP 500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and benefits aligned with Ecobank’s employee reward framework.
