Job Overview

The Urban Infrastructure Resilience Specialist will lead initiatives to design and implement climate-resilient infrastructure solutions in Mansa, Zambia. This role is critical to AECOM’s mission to future-proof urban environments against environmental and socio-economic risks while promoting sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments for urban infrastructure systems (transport, water, energy).
  • Develop climate adaptation strategies for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with local governments and stakeholders to align resilience goals with urban development plans.
  • Design flood mitigation, heat island reduction, and energy-efficient infrastructure solutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of resilience interventions post-implementation.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in urban resilience frameworks (e.g., UN-Habitat, IPCC guidelines).
  • Proficiency in GIS and infrastructure modeling software (AutoCAD, ArcGIS).
  • Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Knowledge of Zambian urban development policies and climate adaptation regulations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or Environmental Science.
  • Master’s Degree preferred in Urban Resilience or Sustainable Development.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in urban infrastructure planning or climate resilience projects.
  • Proven track record in delivering large-scale urban development initiatives.

Salary

280,000 – 400,000 SSP annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
