Job Overview

The Network Optimization Engineer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the performance, reliability, and capacity of MTN Zambia’s mobile network. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive drive tests and data analysis to identify network bottlenecks.
• Develop and implement optimization plans for radio access network (RAN) and core network elements.
• Collaborate with RF, planning, and engineering teams to fine‑tune parameters and improve KPI performance.
• Monitor network performance using OSS/BSS tools and generate regular reports for senior management.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field technicians.
• Participate in network rollout projects, ensuring optimal configuration and performance from day one.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in network performance tools (e.g., Atoll, TEMS, NetAct).
• In‑depth knowledge of LTE/5G technologies, radio planning, and optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to work across multiple departments.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and presentations.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Nokia NRS, or equivalent are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in mobile network optimization, preferably within a large telecom operator. Experience with LTE and emerging 5G networks is essential.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from ZMW 250,000 to ZMW 350,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
