Job Overview
The Downstream Operations Analyst will play a pivotal role in optimizing the performance of TotalEnergies’ downstream assets, including storage terminals, distribution networks, and retail fuel stations across Zambia. Reporting to the Downstream Operations Manager, the analyst will be responsible for data‑driven decision making, process improvement, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position offers exposure to a wide range of operational functions, from inventory management to market analysis, and provides a platform to develop expertise in the oil and gas value chain. Candidates will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including logistics, finance, health‑safety‑environment (HSE), and commercial, to deliver seamless operations that meet customer expectations and corporate objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, and analyze operational data from downstream facilities to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain performance dashboards that track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, inventory turnover, and product quality.
- Support the planning and execution of maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to supply continuity.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to optimize fuel distribution routes, reduce transportation costs, and improve delivery reliability.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting operational efficiency, cost savings, and compliance status.
- Assist in the implementation of digital tools and automation projects aimed at enhancing data visibility and operational control.
- Ensure adherence to local regulatory requirements, industry standards, and TotalEnergies’ internal policies.
- Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies for operational hazards.
- Provide analytical support for commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, and market forecasting.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including government agencies and industry partners, to stay informed about market dynamics and regulatory changes.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of downstream oil and gas processes, including storage, blending, and distribution.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex information clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Familiarity with HSE standards and regulatory frameworks governing the oil and gas sector in Zambia.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in data analytics, project management, or HSE are considered a plus.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of relevant experience in downstream operations, process optimization, or a similar analytical role within the oil and gas industry. Experience in a multinational environment and exposure to African markets will be highly valued.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
