Job Overview

The Grid Operations Analyst will support ZESCO’s mission to deliver uninterrupted electricity by monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing grid performance across the national network. This role involves real‑time data assessment, outage management, and collaboration with field engineers to implement corrective actions. The analyst will also contribute to strategic planning initiatives, ensuring that the grid adapts to growing demand and emerging technologies. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor real‑time grid data using SCADA systems to detect anomalies and potential faults.
• Analyze load patterns, voltage stability, and frequency deviations to recommend operational improvements.
• Coordinate with field teams during outage events to expedite restoration and minimize downtime.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Support the development of grid expansion plans, including integration of renewable energy sources.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of recurring issues and propose preventive maintenance strategies.
• Ensure compliance with national and international electrical standards and safety regulations.
• Participate in cross‑functional projects aimed at enhancing grid resilience and efficiency.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in SCADA, EMS, and GIS tools for grid monitoring and analysis.
• Strong analytical abilities with experience in data visualization and statistical modeling.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the capacity to make quick decisions under pressure.
• Effective communication skills for reporting findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Zambian electricity regulations and international best practices.
• Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Power Systems Professional (CPSP) or equivalent are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in power grid operations, transmission planning, or electrical system analysis. Prior experience with utility companies or large‑scale energy projects is highly preferred.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
