Job Overview

GreenHarvest Zambia is seeking a dynamic Sustainable Agriculture Project Manager to lead initiatives that integrate eco-friendly farming techniques with community development. This role will oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects aimed at improving crop yields, soil health, and water conservation in rural farming communities across Zambia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sustainable agriculture projects aligned with environmental and community development goals.
  • Collaborate with local farmers, NGOs, and government agencies to ensure project success.
  • Conduct field assessments to identify opportunities for improving agricultural practices.
  • Monitor project budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, including progress updates and impact analyses.
  • Train farmers on sustainable techniques such as crop rotation, organic pest control, and water-efficient irrigation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in project management within agriculture or environmental sectors.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable farming practices and environmental conservation principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, GIS software).
  • Ability to work in remote rural areas with limited infrastructure.
  • Fluency in English and local Zambian languages (e.g., Bemba, Nyanja) is a plus.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or a related field. A Master’s Degree is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in agricultural project management, with a focus on sustainability and community engagement. Experience working in Zambia or other Sub-Saharan African countries is advantageous.

Salary

150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
