Job Overview

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager will lead Zambeef’s quality ecosystem, ensuring that all products meet stringent local and global regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the role involves designing, implementing, and monitoring food safety programs, overseeing audits, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP systems across all processing facilities.
  • Lead internal and external audits, including regulatory inspections, and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Monitor critical control points, conduct risk assessments, and drive root‑cause investigations for non‑conformities.
  • Collaborate with R&D to validate new product formulations and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Train and mentor staff on food safety protocols, fostering a proactive quality culture.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage supplier qualification programs, ensuring raw material compliance.
  • Stay updated on emerging food safety regulations and industry trends to advise strategic decisions.

Required Skills

  • Deep knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, GFSI, and local Zambian food safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing quality teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Certified Food Safety Professional (CFSP) or ISO Lead Auditor are highly desirable.

Experience

At least eight (8) years of progressive experience in food safety and quality assurance within the meat, dairy, or broader food processing sector. Prior experience leading audit programs and managing multi‑site quality operations is essential.

Salary

The role offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
