Job Overview

The Port Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day activities of the Livingstone port, ensuring seamless coordination of vessel arrivals, cargo handling, customs clearance, and hinterland transportation. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all port operations, including vessel scheduling, cargo loading/unloading, and storage management.
• Develop and implement operational policies that align with ZPA’s strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with customs, immigration, and security agencies to ensure compliant and efficient clearance processes.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as turnaround time, berth utilization, and safety incident rates, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of supervisors, technicians, and support staff, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
• Manage relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and inland transport providers to optimize cargo flow.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
• Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
• Implement digital tools such as terminal operating systems (TOS) and real‑time tracking platforms to enhance visibility and efficiency.
• Develop contingency plans for emergencies, including floods, equipment failures, or security incidents.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in port operations, terminal management, or related logistics functions, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in an inland waterway or lake port environment is highly preferred.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
