Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead Nestlé Zambia’s quality assurance function at the Kalulushi manufacturing plant, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked, and closed effectively.
  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and key quality indicators (KQIs) across the production line to guarantee product safety and consistency.
  • Collaborate with R&D to validate new product formulations and ensure they meet quality standards before launch.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.
  • Provide training and mentorship to quality technicians, auditors, and production staff on best practices and compliance.
  • Manage supplier quality assurance programs, including qualification, performance monitoring, and corrective action plans.
  • Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure all documentation, including batch records, SOPs, and deviation reports, are accurate, complete, and stored securely.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring timely submission of required documentation and swift resolution of any compliance issues.

Required Skills

  • In‑depth knowledge of food safety standards (ISO 22000, HACCP, BRC) and local Zambian food regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven approach to decision making.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of influencing cross‑functional teams.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC).
  • Experience with audit management and corrective action implementation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or HACCP Practitioner are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in quality assurance within a food manufacturing environment, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in multinational FMCG companies is preferred.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from SSP 120,000 to SSP 180,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
